Michelle's Priorities
Public Safety
A top priority of mine is to maintain and support funding and resources for public safety in La Mirada. Coming from a law enforcement family and a lineage of veterans, I have deep respect and honor for those who serve and protect. I understand the importance of strong funding and resources for public safety and investing in law enforcement and community policing. I will be your voice, your neighbor, and advocate for our beautiful community, to ensure La Mirada stays on the nation's safest cities list.
Family Values
My husband and I bought our first family home in our beloved city of La Mirada, the same city where my grandfather bought his first home in 1959 with his G.I. bill. We wanted to live in the city that made me feel safe, seen, and empowered as a girl. I danced and cheered for La Mirada youth sports and have fond memories of 4th of July events, football games, and even the Olympic torch coming through Rosecrans Boulevard. This is the small-town, family-like community I commit to maintaining.
Collaborative Leadership
I have spent my entire career as a teacher building relationships across constituencies, services, and programs. It is my executive leadership experience with various local and statewide nonprofit organizations and boards that will serve me well as a council member. I am also currently the Vice Chair of La Mirada's Historical Preservation Advisory Council, and I understand the value of bringing every voice to the decision-making table to serve all of La Mirada. My servant leadership is a good fit for continued unity on the La Mirada City Council.
